Many of my clients have told me they have no time. My response is that we all have time, it comes down to choice and our choice is not to exercise. If we do not take care of where we live what where are we going to live when repairs are needed. Take time invest in your health learn work with a trainer. And make it part of your schedule.

Weight Lifting and Age
Weight lifting shown to help slow cognitive decline!
In a recent
study they found that seniors who worked out with weights to improve physical
strength improved their cognitive functions. They took a group of seniors and
half the group did aerobic exercise and the other half did sessions in the
weight room. They did a simple weight room workout that included a short warm
up and then used resistance (both body and machine) focusing on core, lower
body, upper back, shoulders and arms. The seniors in the weight room group
improved cognitive performance and improved brain function.
Another
reason to find that workout buddy and head to the gym!!

April is a great time to get motivated. It starts to get warm outside and we start meeting our neighbors again. We told ourselves we are going to get is shape this year we are going to be is shape this year and be ready for summer. My guess it did not happen.
Why?
It simple we gave a way out for a commitment to change. We gave an excuse and we bought it. In the end they say your body is a temple and if you do not take care of the temple. Where are going to live?
So get active get help. Get a trainer.
Nad enjoy the summer you always wanted...

Every Woman
www.everywomanintheworld.com
Went to the “Every Woman” event last weekend!! What a
blast!!!
It was a full day of new
experiences to try. I started the day with The ARC boot camp. It was 45 minutes
of circuit style stations. I was awake in no time. In the second hour I presented the “Balls and
bands” workshop to 25 wonderful women of all fitness levels. Next came the
Yamuna ball body rolling. The muscles in my legs and back got a great massage.
From there it was 45 minutes of stretching. After a quick lunch break I
attended a “hula hoop” class. It was so much fun learning new ways to exercise
with the hoop!! Bootie camp was next!!! The instructor had us strutting in our
phantom stilettos, hips swaying to the music. I finished up the day learning a
new game. Pickle Ball!!! I had seen it advertised in the local community center
magazine and thought I should try it out. I had so much fun with my sister on
the court! We decided we liked it so much that we would try to get together for
a drop in session on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Lynn Kanuka puts on this event in White
Rock and other communities in BC. Women of all ages and fitness levels meet for
a full day of inspiring activities. Everyone is there to have fun and to learn
about what is going on in their community.
Bottom Line is………try something new!

My Fitness Pal
I have been using this product for one month and have been impressed with the simplicity and mobility of the product. It is important that not only do you log your workout routine is that you understand and start to monitor your food intake. Today we should be really concerned about quality of food not quantity. We have been told to finish our plates at the dinner table we have be sold by companies to super size.
It really is your fault that you have gained weight and your fault that you feel like crap.
Today we are able to be educated with shows like Dr. Oz many sites on the web plus knowing that good food will help in the long run.
Learn to eat natural. Food is not natural in a box.. Read the label next time before you buy...
For more information just Google it you might find something of interest that can help....

Are you making the most of your cardio time???
Are you making the most of your cardio time???
It is easy to jump on a bike or any other cardio equipment to do your 30 minutes. Do you check your heart rate? Is it at 78?120? 185?
Click on the link below to find out where your heart rate should be to .
Warm up for about 5 minutes and then try to keep between your target for 20-30 minutes. To make the time go by I often start off at the lower end of my target and then add intensity for one minute then drop back down for 30 seconds. The second increase is up a bit more. I continue the increases and decreases until I reach my maximum. Then I take it back to the bottom and start again. This is called interval training. You will be surprised at how quickly you will see improvements in your aerobic capacity and your ability to exercise longer at varying intensities.
See you at the gym! Sharon

Hockey Playoffs Taking over Your life????
Hockey Playoffs taking over your life??? We all can get caught up in the playoffs and spend many more hours than we usually would sitting in front of the TV. This can also happen if you get attached to watching Dance shows or other reality TV! When sitting for 2-3 hours the snacking can become a problem. Plan for it and you can avoid the playoff pounds. Have carrots and celery cut up and in the fridge. Sliced apples and a bit of cheese can give both the crunch and the salt many of us crave. Hot Air popped popcorn is another healthier snack. During the final series take the time between periods to walk or run around the block. Do you really have to see that goal again? If you have a physio ball just sitting on it during the game is activating muscles and burning more calories than if you were sprawled out on your recliner. If you add some bounces you will add more of a challenge. Add some weights for upper body during the commercials and you could get a great all round workout. Lets hope we win in 4, but if it goes to 7 working out a bit during the game could help you maintain your fitness!
